# Java / Maven developer - PKIX path validation failure

We are running Maven from a client VM machine and hitting the issue below. We are trying this for the first time.

PKIX path validation failure related to certificates ?

Issue:  
[ERROR] The project com.xxxxxxxx:vm-java-service-template:0.0.1-SNAPSHOT (D:\gitrepos\Java\_11\_Ms\vm-java-service-template\pom.xml) has 1 error  
[ERROR] Non-resolvable parent POM for com.xxxxxxxxxxxx:vm-java-service-template:0.0.1-SNAPSHOT: Could not transfer artifact org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-parent:pom:2.0.5-RELEASE from/to nexus ([https://vmnexusrepo.ad.xxxxxxxxx.com/repository/mav](https://vmnexusrepo.ad.xxxxxxxxx.com/repository/mav)  
en-public/): PKIX path validation failed: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: validity check failed and ‘parent.relativePath’ points at wrong local POM @ line 7, column 11: NotAfter: Sat Dec 11 10:45:57 GMT 2021 → [Help 2]  
[ERROR]
