(C)OTS packages versus Nexus repository configuration

HNY to all Sonatypers <3,

How do you deal with the configuration for your Nexus instance when it comes to storing binaries for Off-The-Shelf software? Are you following the “a .jar is a .jar” approach and do you store an OTS-package which happens to be a .jar in a “java-third-party” repository?

Or do you have a generic “ots” repository in which you “dump” everything?

I would like to hear your approach/ best practice for this. We are considering to change from the generic “ots-releases” repository approach in our old instance of Nexus 2 to the “ecosystem_xyz-third-party” repository approach in Nexus 3.
