Maven Central publishing limits are now in effect

Hi everyone,

Maven Central’s publishing limits are now in effect. If you publish to Central, sign in and open Publishing > Usage Center to check your organization’s monthly file count, release size, release count, and applicable limits:

Going over a limit in an isolated month won’t immediately stop publishing. It starts a 30-day grace period, including when a large release or urgent security fix pushes usage over a threshold. The grace period resets after two consecutive months below the limits. If it expires while usage is still over a limit, new releases that would keep the affected organization or namespace over that specific limit won’t be accepted. Already published packages and dependency downloads are unaffected.

Maven Central remains free for ordinary community open source publishing. If your project’s normal releases exceed the standard limits, email central-support@sonatype.com with your organization, namespaces, and a description of the project and its publishing pattern. We can review a higher limit or exemption.

Commercial publishing has a separate requirement. If an artifact supports the adoption, integration, or operation of a commercial product or service, Maven Central Publisher Pro is required regardless of publishing volume. If your organization also publishes community open source projects, those projects can be reviewed separately.
