Dates in blob files

I don’t understand what this directory with the dates 2025 and 2026 is. Is it necessary for the Nexus? Or can these folders with the dates 2025 and 2026 be deleted?

In Nexus 3.83 the blob store structure moved from volume and chapter based to date based.

The 2025 directory is part of Nexus Repository’s new, date‑based blob store layout, which was introduced as an alternative to the older vol-XX/chap-YY layout. In this new layout, blobs are stored under a path like:

<blob-store>/content/YYYY/MM/DD/hh/mm/

So no, these cannot and should not be deleted. That will result in data loss.

The old vol/chap structure remains for any deployments that used the previous structure and before the new one was introduced. Do not delete either of these directories.

If you are looking to save space then you should leverage cleanup policies and the compact blob store task.

If you’re a Docker user also consider using Docker - Delete unused manifests and images which can be used to find unreferenced images/manifests

Please tell me if any tasks

  • delete blob store a temporary files tasks
  • Repair recalculate blob storage

can help free up space in the Nexus?

The task which cleans up abandoned temporary files may, but its unlikely to free a significant amount.
